So, you have decided to begin using an alternate energy source. That is great. But, which one is the right one for you? To start, you must take a look at the area in which you live. What is the climate like? What is the general landscape like? What problems might you encounter with each different alternate energy type?

Knowing and analyzing what type of renewable energy source you need is the first step. Renewable energy comes in all forms. Take some time to really study which one is best for you.

Solar energy is a great non-polluting, renewable energy resource for many people. However, if you spend most of your time in the house staring at the dismal gray sky and wishing that you could walk outside without stepping on a worm, then it may not be right for you. Even with fairly decent sunlight, without an adequate storage method, you are only going to have energy during the daylight, when you probably do not need as much to begin with.

Wind energy is also non-polluting (discounting the noise pollution) and renewable but is not going to be effective in areas where there is not a lot of wind for those areas that are sheltered or blocked in any way. Wind farms need fairly open spots to be set up in, and even the smallest turbine set up must be placed above the tree line to be effective at all. Again, a proper storage system is necessary or you will only have intermittent energy.

A hybrid of the two works better, but again only in those areas where sun and wind are both going to happen with any regularity. And, you would still need the energy storage method, one that is capable of converting energy from either source for storage.

Finally, cost is a consideration to keep in mind. Photovoltaic systems can cost up to $50,000 and even with government subsidies to offset some of the cost, it may be far beyond many budgets. Other systems are available, but they may not be as effective and may not provide enough energy for your home’s needs.

Wind energy systems are generally considered to be more cost effective, but again may not be right for your area. They are also not as simple to operate as most people assume unless they are kept small. Remember, however, the smaller the system, the smaller the energy output will be.

The greatest thing about solar power is that its potential is virtually unlimited. Learn how to generate alternative energy solar power, easily and save $1000’s on utility bills. You just need to know how to make your own renewable energy source and today I am going to tell you exactly how to build your own solar power for electricity.

If you want to learn how to generate alternative energy solar power, you’ll need to learn some basics on how exactly do solar panels work. This way, the entire process will be much easier to handle.

The procedure starts with solar modules. They are the main components exposed directly to sunlight. Their main function is to convert the sun’s energy into usable electrical power for your home appliances. To have them correctly installed, solar modules are to be placed on a steel frame and positioned on your roof top.
Power produced by the solar modules is converted from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) through a inverter. Usually, Alternating Current (AC) is the usable electrical power that we need to power the home appliances.

Next, the electrical power transfers from the inverter to the electrical service panel. The electrical service panel is used for distributing the electrical power to different parts of your house or office for consumption.

The unused electrical power produced by the solar panels will then be brought into the grid all the way through the utility electric meter. As a result, the meter will be made to spin backwards and this establishes a credit with the utility company in offsetting future usage. This method is known as Net Metering and is authorized by State Level Electricity Policy.

Learning how to generate alternative energy solar power isn’t really a difficult task. You don’t need many skills beyond being able to handle wiring & basic tools with care and safety measures.

The raw materials required for building solar panels include:-

1. Solar Cells
2. Sheet Plywood
3. Copper Wire
4. Clear PVC Sheeting
5. General Tools (Drills, screwdrivers, woodwork glue etc)

All these raw materials can be easily picked up by you from the local hardware store. Photovoltaic cell is the only component that you might have to search online and it can be found easily on eBay.

Quality instructions that are easy to follow are necessary to find when trying to generate solar power. This will make the building process less stressful and make you happier that you made the choice to do it yourself. Online is just one of the places you are able to find some of these manuals. We have reviewed the best guides available to help you to learn how to build your own solar panel system for electricity.
Renewable energy is the best solution to stop global warming and keep the world green. Using renewable energy can save hundreds, even thousands of dollars off your electric bill. Through renewable resources it is possible to become completely independent from electric companies.

About 7% of the United States is powered by renewable resources. The five most common methods to gather electricity from nature are: Solar Power, Water Power (Hydropower), Geothermal Power, Wind Power, And Energy From Biomass. Lets take a look further into each of these.

Solar power is energy gathered directly through the sun. Solar panels are devices that can transfer the light rays into electricity. If humans where 100% efficient, and could gather all the energy from the sun that hits the earth, we would only need gather the energy for about a minute each day. That’s right, one minute’s worth of solar energy could power the entire world for a day. For your home, you can use solar panels to supply your house with electricity.

Water power is the energy from moving water. Dams are a great example of energy from water, the running water powers them. Running water constantly flows out to the ocean, where it evaporates and returns to land. This makes it renewable, because the water cycle will always continue to supply our streams and rivers with water. If you have a source of water near your house, you can use a water mill to generate electricity.

Geothermal power is energy from within the Earth. As you probably know, the Earth’s core is very hot, and consistently melt rock and heats water. You can dig deep wells and pump the hot water or steam out of it, then you can use this heat to heat your home.

Wind power is energy from the air flow that surrounds the Earth. Wind turbines, similar to propellers on an airplane, can transfer this pushing force into a spinning movement. This spinning movement can be used to power a generator and supply you with electricity. Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the Earth, basically because warm air rises and cold air falls. The states with the highest wind power are generally the border states because the ocean produces high winds.

Biomass power is energy gathered from plants and plant waste. Like solar panels, plants have the ability to gather sunlight and transfer it to energy. This process is called photosynthesis, fossil fuel is energy gathered by photosynthesis millions of years ago. Since we can’t replace fossil fuel, it is not renewable, you should use today’s plants for energy. To use biomass, you can use biofuels (fuels made from biomass) like methane and ethanol. Also, use a wood stove to heat your home instead of the normal heaters.

Wind power is one of the alternative energy that can be used. The wind turbines and wind farms are being developed that are both energy efficient and inexpensive. Solar energy is a very well known form of alternative energy. This incorporates gathering the solar cells and harnessing electricity from it. The solar panels these days available can be placed on the roof top of your houses. The solar energy and wind energy create no pollution. Ocean wave energy is another form of energy that has a great potential. It generates electricity from the ocean waves and then transfers it to the houses.

Hydroelectric energy is also a well known form of alternative energy. This has a big electricity generator and cleaner than the grid. There are restraints to it too. There has to be large space available for making a dam. Geothermal energy is available everywhere and is generated from below the Earth’s crust. This energy is generated by passing water in the earth’s crust, it gets heated and turns into steam that can be developed for driving the turbine engines and that generates electricity. Ethanol can also produce electricity. And one can also produce electricity from biodiesel which is created out of the oil contained in the plants like the sunflower, rapseedetc. You can also generate electricity from nuclear energy.

With the global warming debate in full swing these days, one will often hear the term “carbon footprint”. Just what does carbon footprint mean; what is it? When people talk about the carbon footprint, they are referring to the impact that human activity is having on the environment. As a whole, the entire human race is leaving one, mega-sized carbon footprint on the earth, and this is what is having a devastating effect on the planet in terms of the warming of the globe, the accelerated extinction of many species, the increasing size of deserts and the loss of fresh drinking water. When looking at the carbon footprint at an individual level, each person leaves a different sized carbon footprint. The size of the carbon footprint that a person leaves behind is based on how a person lives their life; how much they contribute to the overall problem of global warming. There are many things that a person can do in order to reduce their carbon footprint; much of it is common sense and easy to do.

The first way that a person can reduce their carbon footprint is to change how they live their everyday life. By taking alternative forms of transportation, such as the bus, car pooling or purchasing a hybrid vehicle, are all ways that a person can reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses they put into the air. The type of food a person eats as well as what they drink should also be taken into consideration when thinking about reducing the carbon footprint. That food and drink came from somewhere, it was processed with something and a lot of energy and water went into production of most of it.

The second way that a person can reduce their carbon footprint is to change how they run their house and business. Changing appliances to updated energy saving appliances, for instance, can greatly reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses being pumped into the air. Changing one’s habits to turn things off when they are not being used, recycling more, reducing the amount of garbage they put out from their household, using less harmful chemicals for cleaning and so on, are all ways that a person can greatly reduce their carbon footprint.

The third way that a person can reduce their carbon footprint is to do more green things for the environment, such as planting trees. Each tree planted will help to remove greenhouse gasses from the air and replace a tree that has been cut down somewhere else.Purchasing carbon offsets will also help to reduce the carbon footprint, as the money is usually put into programs that work to reduce the greenhouse gasses being put into the air.

Renewable energy can be classified as any naturally generated energy, which includes but is not limited to wind, rain, tidal power, sunlight, running water, geothermal energy and bio fuels. The key element of all those sources of power is that they are naturally replenished as opposed to fossil fuels which are diminishing resources.

In addition to being unlimited the main benefit of renewable energy is that its consumption tends to have far less impact on the world’s environment; again unlike fossil fuels which contribute to greenhouse gases and global warming. There are varying estimates on the damage being done to the world’s atmosphere but most scientists agree that CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels is extremely damaging and therefore the sooner renewable energy generation can be increased the better.

There are two classifications of generating renewable energy; either macro or micro. The first method is by developing commercial installations such as wind farms and hydroelectric plants that contribute to the national grid. The micro method is where businesses, communities or individual homeowners generate their own renewable power to supplement or replace what they take from the national grid.

Most of the UK’s more savvy power utility companies are heavily investing in ways to get more renewable energy onto the grid. However, despite an uptake in its usage the UK does not yet get anywhere enough of its energy supplies from renewable sources.

However, individuals can make a difference by installing a wind turbine or solar panels to generate their own renewable energy. Solar panels can heat water directly or be used to generate energy to be used within the home, depending upon the type installed. Most homeowners will not require planning permission but will need building regulations to fix a single solar panel to their roof, but there are a few exceptions. Those livings in flats or other dwellings will need to consult their local authority for advice.

Alternatively, the installation of a wind turbine does involve the prior granting of planning permission in most cases. Those considering buying a wind turbine should first consult their local authority as the details needed on their planning application will vary. However, for the majority of councils information is normally required concerning the visual impact, anticipated vibration and noise levels, the expected impact on electrical interference with TV aerials and last, but not least – the issue of safety.

By installing your own renewable energy source at your property not only will you be making a positive impact on your carbon footprint, you will also see savings in your energy bill; surely two excellent reasons to investigate its feasibility.

Renewable energy is anything that can be used to generate heat or electricity but without using unsustainable fuels and without releasing carbon dioxide into the earth’s atmosphere.

The reason renewable energy is becoming more prevalent is because other non-renewable resources such as fossil fuels are finite and the supply will eventually run out. Non-renewable fuels are also more harmful to the environment due to the levels of carbon dioxide emitted through extraction and use.

Carbon dioxide levels play a central role in global warming. As carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere the temperature of the earth increases and this causes climate change and alters the long-term weather patterns that plants and animals are currently accustomed to.

Changes to the climate come with potentially damaging consequences. Ice caps are starting to melt at the Poles, which could cause sea levels to rise, leaving long lasting damage to various aspects of marine and coastal life. Higher temperatures and less rainfall are being recorded in already arid areas, making it more difficult for crops to grow.

Carbon dioxide is the biggest contributor to global warming and one of the main sources is the burning of fossil fuels for energy, typically used to heat homes and run vehicles. This has led to research and development into renewable energy sources, many of which are becoming available for widespread use.

Great Britain is committed to producing 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020 which is equivalent to around 35% of overall electricity.

Renewable energy sources include wind, solar and wave power amongst a few others. The United Kingdom has huge resources in wind and wave power due to the weather conditions and positioning of the country itself.

As well as the guarantee of a secure and never ending supply, renewable energy has several other advantages. Low carbon emissions hold great benefits for the earth overall and the less emissions the better. Job opportunities and spin-off economic benefits for local companies and communities are a common result of renewable energy projects around the country.

Wind power is a large-scale, reliable source of power that is already having a major positive impact on the British Isles. Wind power already provides enough electricity to supply 1.2 million UK homes every year and there is plenty of room for growth.

Wave and tidal ocean power is a clean and abundant energy source and is achievable throughout Great Britain due to the vast amount of ocean surrounding the country.

The waves crashing onto the western shores carry the power of the Atlantic behind them and the many inlets, firths and channels around the United Kingdom have some of the highest tidal ranges and strongest currents in the world.

Solar power makes use of the sun’s energy and can be used in a similar way to electricity and gas to heat your home and water.

The most popular forms of home DIY alternate energy today are solar and wind energy. The savings that you can put aside by building these energy generators yourself can be very generous. When you compare the costs that go into purchasing a retail system vs. DIY alternate energy projects, it’s very significant.

Solar and Wind generators can cost thousands of dollars if you buy retail. However, most of the parts required for building one of these can be found at your local hardware stores. Take a look around the house, you may just have some materials for your build already.

For instance, let’s take a look at what goes into building a solar generator. Some parts that you could find at your local hardware store include: Lumber, Silicone Caulk, Jones Plugs, Wires, Screws and Paint. Most of this you can pick up at a hardware store, if you don’t already have some of it laying around in the garage.

There are some parts that are required for a DIY alternate energy project such as solar power. Materials such as solar cells and diodes will probably have to be purchased through the internet.

If you plan on storing your energy inside deep cycle batteries, there are ways of finding batteries around your neighborhood cheaply or even free.

DIY alternate energy, be it to power a rural home or lower your electric expenses, is a smart way to save money in your renewable energy project. DIY alternate energy builds prove quite simple and once you learn the basics to making energy, the knowledge is priceless.

Renewable Energy as the term implies is a form of energy that is self sustaining and constantly renewing itself like wind and solar energy. Which can not be said by many other energy sources that are currently in use such as oil, gas, coal and nuclear energy.

Another advantage the renewable energy sources have over conventially used energy sources is that for the most part it is non polluting and thus is environmentally friendly and health for human and animal use.

A third advantage and one that peaks most peoples interest is that solar and wind energy saves you money as they are essentially fixed in cost and are not subject to the price volitility and availability of oil, coal, gas and nucluear energy.

There are two ways that a homeowner can implement renewable energy; this can be done by using solar panels and/or wind turbines. These renewable energy technologies are implemented into what is essentially an energy system using advance electronics to tie together and control the energy generating sources.

These systems may lead you to think that they are fairly complex and expensive, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. If your a Do-It-Yourselfer it’s even more cost effective, and as with all such systems they pay for themselves year after year.

Depending on how you implement renewable energy technolgy it is quite possible to power your home off grid which can save you thousands yearly. This includes using solar power heaters that can provide up to 75% of a homes hot water needs reducing or eliminating the need for oil or gas heating systems.

If your currently not ready for upgrading your home with solar panels and wind turbines you should still begin to investigate what it will take to upgrade your home and the cost involved; since eventually going green is something we’re all going to have to do. For now though you can reduce your energy consumption by insulating your home, use energy efficient light bulbs, caulk leaky windows, insulate your water heating tank, insulate pipes that distribute your hot water…

To start getting ready on installing green technologies do your best to learn about the various programs available to homeowners from federal and state governements that will help reduce the cost on installing green technologies such as solar and wind and the various tax benefits that are also available, which can save you a bundle of money.

As the price for the commonly used fuels of oil and gas continue to rise and there scarcity increases, renewable energy sources and the technology developed to take advantage of them is the only way to go since they will be here as long as the sun burns bright in earths sky.

Learn more about Green Technology Solar Panels and Wind Turbines and how they can save you money as well as add value to your home while helping the environment at the same time!
